Kids and fishing just go together. It makes me think of Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer floating the day away. Most of my best childhood memories are fishing with my dad and I hope fishing with me are some of my sons favorite.
Where did you take your kids fishing for the first time?
How did you set them up and keep it fun an interesting?
I took my son one time to Pinewood Reservoir in Loveland to fish the inlet. This is a great place to take kids because there are not a lot of trees to get stuck in. The water also moves like a river so you have to keep moving the fly. He was casting fine and even caught five fish before I even had my line in the water!
After about 20 minutes, even with fish still striking I watched him put the rod down. He said it was ok but that he was not having fun. It was so hard to leave but I wanted to keep the experience positive.
Looking back I wish I would have brought him something else to do, that way we could have stayed. Live and learn right?
How did you make fishing with you kids a success? Tell us how or just show off the pictures.
