Fly Fishing Classes and Clinics

One our goals at NoCoFlyFishing is to give you the knowledge and understanding to catch fish on your own or to increase your catch rate! Our Fly Fishing Classes are designed to take your skills to the next level once you have a basic understanding. Everyone of our guides can get you into fish but each guide has followed their passion for a unique area of fly fishing. Adding one or all of these skills to your fly fishing tool belt will make you a better angler, able to catch fish even in the toughest of conditions.

Angler will need most of their own gear, flies and accessories. Waders and boots can be provided.

Introduction to Fly Fishing

The introduction to fly fishing class is the perfect for anyone interested in learning how to fly fish. You don't need to bring anything, the gear will be provided and there is a booklet for you to take home. The lessons are hands-on with you stringing up the rod, casting and tying the knots. We have classes for all budgets and interest levels, not sure fly fishing is your sport, try one of our group classes. If you want the full fly fishing experience, try one of our group, on the water classes. If you just want to catch some fish then a fly fishing guided trip is what you are looking for.

Nymphing/ Fly Fishing 102

Fish take 90% of their food under water, only 10% on top, so to be really successful a fly fisher need to understand good nymphing techniques. Nymphing is using an underwater imitation of the nymph or larvae stage of the fly fishing bugs. This class is the perfect progression from the Intro to Fly Fishing Classes.

There is a saying in fly fishing that "the tug is the drug" and there is no tug quite like a streamer take! This style of fly fishing bring the big dogs out to play and lets you know how skilled you are at playing big fish. In this class we will cover the rods, line and flies best used for this style along with fly presentation and hook set. Come ready to get a workout of both the mind and body and possibly the fish of a lifetime!

Tenkara Weekend Clinic

The tenkara weekend clinic is the perfect opportunity to show you the tenkara basics, with instruction on gear and techniques, while emphasizing the use of tenkara in the backcountry streams of Rocky Mountain National Park. This tenkara weekend clinic will not only cover the traditional side of tenkara but will also include western techniques. This two day clinic will start at a local venue with a presentation and instruction. The second day will be an 6 hour, guided tenkara trip into Rocky Mountain National Park.

European Nymphing

European nymphing also sometimes referred as tight-line nymphing includes Czech, Polish, French and Spanish styles. Long rods and heavy flies give you the opportunity to fish some unique areas and "feel your fly" rather then watching for a strike. This style of fly fishing is being used successfully around the world in fly fishing competitions and to catch trout on your local waters.
